22nd National Paddy Day Celebrated in Karnali Province
The 22nd National Paddy Day was celebrated in Karnali Province, Surkhet, jointly organised by the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives (MoLMAC) and the Directorate of Agriculture Development, with the support of various national and international non-governmental organisations, including SAHAS Nepal.
The event highlighted the critical importance of rice cultivation, a major staple crop of Nepal for ensuring national food security, enhancing rural livelihoods, and contributing significantly to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Emphasis was also placed on preserving and promoting indigenous and local crop varieties, with a collective call to action for all farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and development partners to work together to conserve Nepal’s rich agro-biodiversity.
