Empowering Parents, Transforming Educational Futures in Solukhumbu

  • 27th Mar, 2026

As part of the project "Mobilization of the Community for High Quality Education in Solukhumbu District," in partnership with Child Aid Network organised five-day Parent Education Trainings  in Solududhkunda Municipality and Thulungdudhkoshi Rural Municipality. These trainings mark a significant step forward in the collective effort to strengthen community-driven education and create lasting, positive change in the lives of children across Solukhumbu District.

The trainings brought together Community-Based Organization (CBO) members and project staff in a collaborative learning environment, united by a shared commitment to placing parents at the heart of children's education and holistic development. Rooted in the globally recognized International Child Development Program (ICDP) framework, the sessions provided participants with a deep understanding of children's emotional needs, the importance of empathetic communication, and the power of positive guidance. Participants explored practical strategies to foster meaningful parent–child interactions and discovered effective, accessible ways to support learning within their own homes.

Through practical exercises and real-life demonstrations, participants were not only equipped with valuable knowledge but were also empowered to become community advocates, capable of engaging and mobilizing fellow parents across their communities. This peer-to-peer approach is central to SAHAS Nepal's vision of sustainable, community-led development, ensuring that the impact of the program extends well beyond the training room.

Ultimately, the program aspires to cultivate a nurturing ecosystem, where homes and schools work in harmony so that every child in Solukhumbu feels valued, motivated, and fully supported in their learning journey. By strengthening the foundational role of parents and caregivers, SAHAS Nepal, in partnership with Child Aid Network, is contributing to improved educational outcomes and a brighter, more equitable future for the children of Solukhumbu.
