On 22nd April 2014, Kristen Gade, South Asia Pacific program Coordinator of BftW(Bread for the World)/EED made a monitoring visit to SAHAS-Nepal’s central office at Lalitpur. During her visit, Dr. Surendra Shrestha, Executive Director of SAHAS-Nepal, presented the brief scenario of the organization and current overview of ongoing projects.Ms. Gade suggested developing financial management software and implementing them in a few districts for pilot testing. She also emphasized on developing a core team as an organization knowledge bank and disseminating the knowledge to younger generations. She also expressed interest in reading SAHAS guidelines especially focusing on agriculture and environment. Dr. Shrestha, requested to extend CEFALS in Mugu, Bajura and Kalikot districts and proposed new projects for watershed management and staff scholarships, to which she gave positive response. She also suggested a review on new application format of BftW/EED and reintegration of proposal by incorporating watershed management and environmental conservation activities into LIFT or CEFALS projects.
Miss Gade further informed that other (new) member will be appointed as representatives for Nepal from BftW/EED. She also suggested communicating and coordinating with Centre for Science and Environment, India for developing trainings, policies, addressing issues regarding environment and climate change. Dr. Shrestha also invited her to participate in the National level Community Based Network Organization (CBNO) Conference and to visit Okhaldhunga to have an interaction with CBNO partners. The visit has strengthened the mutual cooperation between the organizations and added steps for stronger connection in the future.
